At the annual organizational meeting, the Board of Education shall elect a clerk from its own membership. (Education Code 35143)

The duties of the clerk shall be to:

Certify or attest to actions taken by the Board when required \n\t

Maintain such other records or reports as required by law \n\t
\n\t
Review draft minutes before publishing minutes in meeting notes \n\t

Sign the minutes of Board meetings following their approval \n\t
\n\t
Sign documents on behalf of the district as directed by the Board \n\t
\n\t
Serve as presiding officer in the absence of the president and vice president \n\t
\n\t
Perform any other duties assigned by the Board
