The Governing Board encourages all staff to be trained on CPR/AED.<br>\n<br>\nThe Superintendent or designee shall develop procedures to ensure that first aid and/or medical attention is provided as quickly as possible when accidents and injuries to students occur and that parents/guardians are notified as appropriate.<br>\n<br>\nThe Superintendent or designee shall ask parents/guardians to provide emergency contact information in order to facilitate communication in the event of an accident or illness.<br>\n<br>\nDistrict staff shall appropriately report and document student accidents.<br>\n<br>\n<strong>&quot;Do Not Resuscitate&quot; Orders</strong><br>\n<br>\nThe Governing Board believes that staff members should not be placed in the position of determining whether to follow any parent/guardian or medical &quot;do not resuscitate&quot; order. Staff shall not accept or follow any such order except under the specific written direction of the Superintendent or designee. The Superintendent or designee may only direct a staff member to follow a &quot;do not resuscitate&quot; order if the Superintendent or designee has received a written authorization from the student&#39;s parent/guardian, with an authorized health care provider statement, and an order of an appropriate court.<br>\n<br>\nThe Superintendent or designee shall ensure that parents/guardians who have submitted a &quot;do not resuscitate&quot; order are informed of this policy.<br>\n<br>\n<strong>Automated External Defibrillators</strong><br>\n<br>\nThe Governing Board authorizes the Superintendent or designee to place automated external defibrillators (AEDs) at designated school sites for use by school employees in an emergency, in accordance with the accompanying administrative regulation.<br>\n<br>\nThe Superintendent or designee shall develop guidelines for employees regarding the use of AEDs and shall ensure that employees receive information that describes sudden cardiac arrest, the school&#39;s emergency response plan, and the proper use of an AED. Additionally, the guidelines shall specify the placement, security, and maintenance of the AED.<br>\n<br>\nThe authorization of AEDs in district schools shall not be deemed to create a guarantee that an AED will be present or will be used in the case of an emergency, or that a trained employee will be present and/or able to use an AED in an emergency, or that the AED will operate properly.<br>\n<br>\n<strong>Trauma/Emergency Kits</strong><br>\n<br>\nAny district school with an occupancy of 200 or more that was constructed on or after January 1, 2023, or was constructed prior to January 1, 2023, and modified or renovated as specified in Health and Safety Code 19310, shall acquire, place, and maintain trauma kits in accordance with the accompanying administrative regulation.<br>\n<br>\nSchool employees shall be notified annually of the location of the trauma kits and be provided with information regarding training in the use of the trauma kit. &nbsp;(Health and Safety Code 19310)</div>\n</body>\n</html>\n",
